Pet photography has not been been possible for the last few months due to government lockdown restrictions. However, as these restrictions are slowly being lifted, it’s now possible for us to get out and about, take some photographs and arrange our pet photography photo experiences.
Pet Photography with Social Distancing – How will it Work?
We’ve given this a lot of thought and conducted a number of trial runs so that we could assess how practical it is to produce pet portraits under these conditions. After all, it not only has to work, it has to be an enjoyable experience.
Most recently, we arranged a pet photography experience with Fiona, her mum Julie and their St Bernard cross Bruno. They kindly agreed to us filming the whole thing so that you could see exactly how it will work should you wish to go ahead and book a photography experience for you and your dog.
The Social Distancing Behind the Scenes Video
Now that we’ve refined the process, we found that it did not detract from the overall experience at all. From a pet photography point of view, it is something else to think about but this is slowly becoming second nature. As the images show, I’m sure you’ll agree that we produced some very pleasing portraits. For a detailed behind the scenes view of how the session will work please watch the video below.
The Portraits
I’m pleased to say that the whole pet photography experience was as much fun as always and produced some great portraits. What’s more, the feedback from Fiona and her Mum Julia was brilliant.
“The photos are lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed taking part”

Where will the photo shoot take place?
As a Birmingham based dog photographer we are lucky to have access to the beautiful Sutton Park. We can travel to any location, but the majority of our sessions take place in the park. There are a number of reasons why it is so good for pet photography and we covered our top “3 reasons why Sutton Park is the perfect backdrop for your photos” in a recent blog post. We would also add that it’s vast scale makes social distancing very easy.
